Something to remember – Temporary Datafiles Are Re-Created on RMAN Recovery

10gR2 New Features in Backup and Recovery

  1. In our last Disaster Recovery test back in November 2007, I recovered an Oracle 10g ( database from files using the traditional ALTER TABLESPACE BEGIN/END BACKUP method and was surprised the TEMP tablespace was automatically re-created.

So I’m not sure it is solely associated with just using RMAN. I have wanted to try the same test again on a smaller scale (VM), but just haven’t had the time yet.

  2. Thanks for the information.

I did not know that but then I have not used ALTER TABLESPACE BEGIN/END BACKUP in a long time.
